An underground passage for design: Glòries Metro will open directly to DHub

Barcelona City Council has begun work on a new underground concourse that will link Glòries metro station with the DHub ground floor through a 380-square-metre space conceived as a cultural antechamber rather than merely a passageway.

The project comes from a competition promoted by the DHub itself together with FAD and bears a local signature: Amoo Studio SCP. The work completes a series of interventions begun in previous years, when the existing concourse was enlarged and routes were reorganised to remove architectural barriers, replacing stairs with ramps and improving the overall accessibility of the complex.

Far from being conceived as a conventional corridor, the new concourse opts for enveloping architecture. A suspended ceiling with organic geometry will integrate lighting, signage, screens and technical systems, marking a continuous route from the platforms to the museum interior. The space will include new TMB validators and a bar, intended to extend the visitor experience beyond transport.

The access will operate during the same hours as the DHub, from 9:00 to 21:00 every day except Mondays, when it will open in the afternoon. With an execution period of six months, its inauguration will coincide with the world capital of architecture in 2026, a context in which the DHub will play a prominent role as one of the venues for the International Union of Architects congress.
