This Monday afternoon surprised many Barcelona Metro users with an unexpected interruption on line 3. A dog got onto the tracks between Lesseps and Canyelles, forcing service to be suspended at six stations for two hours right in the middle of rush hour.
The incident began at 5:30 pm, when the animal was seen entering the tunnels. The search was activated immediately, while trains could run only between Zona Universitària and Lesseps, and between Canyelles and Trinitat Nova. During that time, Vallcarca, Penitents, Vall d’Hebron, Montbau, Mundet and Valldaura were without service, causing confusion and delays among regular passengers.
It was not until 7:40 pm that the dog was finally located and rescued, allowing services to be restored across the whole line. The situation tested travellers’ patience and revealed the system’s vulnerability to unusual incidents.
Metro line 3, known for connecting key neighbourhoods in northern and central Barcelona, is one of the busiest on the network. Its route passes through residential, university and leisure areas, making it essential for everyday mobility.
