246 sachets of a banned product removed in Barcelona over health risk
The Guardia Civil has removed 246 sachets of “Royal Honey” from a 24-hour supermarket in Barcelona, a banned product containing sildenafil without stating it on its labelling. The intervention highlights the sale of potentially dangerous items outside regulated channels.
The discovery was made during an inspection as part of a broader operation. Officers initially found 160 packets hidden under the counter, which had previously been withdrawn from the market by the AEMPS due to health risks.
After analysing the product, the presence of an active substance used in medicines was confirmed, making these packets unauthorised for sale. Days later, during a new visit, officers found another 86 packets on display, which led to an extension of the operation.
The owner of the establishment has been reported for an alleged offence against public health and smuggling. The repeated sale detected reinforces concerns about access to these types of products in shops that are open continuously.
