A European city rewards tourists who arrive by train (and behave themselves)

This summer, Copenhagen not only invites you to discover it, but to earn it.

The Danish capital relaunches its innovative CopenPay programme, a proposal that turns good tourist behaviour into a bargaining chip. The idea? The more responsible you are, the more benefits you receive.

Between 17 June and 17 August, travellers who arrive by train, extend their stay or opt for sustainable practices — such as getting around by bicycle or taking part in urban clean-ups — will be able to access a wide range of rewards: from yoga sessions and guided tours to free bicycle hire or discounted admission to places such as the National Gallery or The Urban Garden.

After the success of the 2024 pilot, which boosted bicycle hire and environmental involvement, CopenPay returns with three times as many attractions and twice the duration. The initiative, driven by Wonderful Copenhagen, aims to show that tourism does not have to be a burden, but rather a transformative force.

Because in Copenhagen, being a good tourist does not just show… it is also appreciated.
