Northern Madrid gains a station on the Cercanías C-4b line
Northern Madrid is preparing to improve its transport network with a new Cercanías station in Tres Cantos. The project, promoted by Adif, has an investment of €23 million and responds to the area's growth.
The station will be part of the C-4b line, between Tres Cantos and Colmenar Viejo, and is designed to handle around 10,000 journeys a day. This figure is expected to rise over time, in line with residential and employment growth in the area.
The design features a modern building with a concourse, partially covered platforms, basic services, and commercial areas. Outside, there will be connections to buses, taxis, bicycles, and a nearby car park, aiming to make transfers between different modes of transport easier.
This project is also part of a broader plan. The C-4b line will be extended beyond Colmenar Viejo to Soto del Real, which will connect new towns to the Cercanías network and reduce reliance on cars.
The upgrade strengthens the role of Cercanías as a key part of metropolitan mobility, adapting to urban growth in the north of the region.
The new station will make daily journeys easier and cut travel times for public transport users. It could also ease traffic in the area by offering a more direct alternative to driving. In the medium term, this kind of infrastructure often attracts more activity and improves connections with other parts of the region.
