Van Morrison shakes Barcelona: unique concert at the 60th Jazz Festival

Barcelona is preparing for one of the summer's most eagerly awaited musical events: Van Morrison returns to the city after almost a decade away. The legendary Northern Irish musician will perform on 3 July 2026 at the Auditori del Fòrum, as part of the special programme for the 60th anniversary of the Barcelona Jazz Festival. The news has sparked anticipation among jazz and soul lovers, who will be able to enjoy one of the most iconic voices on an emblematic stage.

The Barcelona Jazz Festival, which this year runs until the end of November, has assembled a prestigious line-up to celebrate its six decades of history. Alongside Van Morrison, notable names include Marco Mezquida, Andrea Motis, Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller, Michel Camilo, the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra, Branford Marsalis and Ramon Mirabet's All Star project. The programme combines major international figures with local talent, consolidating the festival as a cultural benchmark in the city.

At 80, Van Morrison continues to surprise with new work. In 2026 he released «Somebody tried to sell me a bridge», a blues record featuring collaborations with Elvin Bishop, Taj Mahal and Buddy Guy. At his Barcelona concert, he will alternate tracks from this latest album with classics from his repertoire, such as «Astral Weeks» and «Moondance». His presence at the festival adds a special glow to an edition that is already historic in its own right.

Tickets will be available from 17 February at 12:00, exclusively on the festival's official website. High demand is expected, as the event coincides with the start of a three-year period of celebrations commemorating the festival's 60 editions, from 2026 to 2028. In addition, the programme includes International Jazz Day, on 26 April on Passeig de Gràcia, with free concerts to bring the genre closer to all audiences.

The performance calendar is completed with proposals for all tastes: Marco Mezquida Trio on 18 April, Sullivan Fortner on 31 May, Pat Metheny on 23 July, Marcus Miller on 24 July, Michel Camilo Trio on 16 October, Andrea Motis and Yamandú Costa on 21 October, the Barcelona Jazz Orquestra on 22 October, Branford Marsalis & Dianne Reeves on 3 November and Ramon Mirabet's All Star project on 28 November.
