Bicimad expands with 20 new stations and boosts mobility in six districts of Madrid
Urban mobility in Madrid continues to evolve with the expansion of Bicimad. The electric bike system will add 20 new stations across six districts, an extension set to be completed in May that will strengthen its presence in key areas of the city.
5th expansion phase (investment €1.4M, €1M NextGenEU Sostenibilidad Turística): Barajas (Tintín y Milú 678), Hortaleza (5: Manuel Chaves Nogales 679, Princesa Éboli 680...), Moncloa-Aravaca (8: Santa Escolástica 675?..., Húmera 40 671, Rafael Botí 672...), Puente Vallecas (Santa Catalina 634 already active Dec 2025), Vicálvaro (2: Arroyo Cañaveral 60, Gran Vía Vicálvaro 17), Villaverde (3). New: El Cañaveral (Vicálvaro) for the first time. +40% journeys 2026. Next: Pozuelo summer.
Districts such as Barajas, Hortaleza, Moncloa-Aravaca, Puente de Vallecas, Vicálvaro and Villaverde will see their access points increase, making daily journeys easier and improving connections with other means of transport.
With this new phase, the network will reach 653 stations and exceed 8,000 bicycles available. For people who travel daily around these districts, the expansion means more options for short trips, commutes or connections with public transport hubs.
The new bases will be distributed across different strategic areas: from residential streets in Hortaleza to points close to commercial and transit areas in Moncloa-Aravaca or Vicálvaro. This rollout seeks to meet both everyday needs and leisure journeys.
Bicimad’s growth responds to increasing demand for sustainable alternatives. The electric bicycle is becoming established as a practical option for avoiding traffic jams, reducing journey times and moving around the city more efficiently.
