From €1 clothes to 120 stalls: Barcelona's vintage markets in September
September brings second-hand markets to Barcelona virtually every weekend. They range from clearance sales with garments for one euro to markets with more than 120 stalls, including curated vintage fashion, vinyl, books, collectibles and design. But they do not all operate in the same way, nor do they all really offer bargain prices.
The first block begins this weekend. Akilo Store, at Pere IV, 117, is holding a clearance sale from 4 to 6 September, with garments at three euros on Friday and Saturday and two euros on Sunday. On the same day, the 6th, Port Flea will occupy Moll de Gregal at Port Olímpic from 11:00 to 20:00, with free entry and more than 100 exhibitors of second-hand goods, vintage items, reused objects and design.
Palo Market Fest also returns on the 5th and 6th, but it should not be confused with Port Flea. Palo Market is held at Palo Alto, at Pellaires, 30, and is geared more towards designer goods, fashion, crafts, food and music than finding cheap used clothing. It opens in two slots, from 12:00 to 17:00 and from 17:30 to 22:00, with general entry at 6.50 euros.
The following weekend brings one of the month's cheapest opportunities. Akilo will repeat the clearance sale on the 11th, 12th and 13th: on Friday and Saturday all garments will be two euros and on Sunday they will fall to one euro, with free entry and hours from 11:00 to 19:00.
That Saturday the 12th, Estació de França will also host Flea Station. The market will be inside L'Estació Espai Gastronòmic from 10:00 to 17:00 with around 40 selected stalls of vintage fashion, second-hand goods and independent projects. Advance entry costs two euros and entry at the door, three.
On Sunday the 13th another classic returns: Lost&Found; Market at Plaça del Mar, opposite Barceloneta. The rule here is particularly clear: only second-hand or vintage objects may be sold, from clothing and books to records, comics, toys and items from other eras; shop stock and direct participation by commercial brands are not allowed. Access is free.
For those who do not want to depend on a single date, La Petite Parade keeps its pop-up at Corretger, 5, in Born during September weekends. Its speciality is garments from the 1980s and 1990s, Y2K aesthetics and upcycling pieces. It opens Friday, Saturday and Sunday, usually from 12:00 to 20:30, and entry is free.
On Sunday the 20th one of the month's biggest events will arrive. La Puça del Clot will occupy Avinguda Meridiana between Aragó and Independència from 10:00 to 20:00 with more than 120 stalls. There it will be possible to find clothing, books, décor, records and second-hand objects in a market installed directly on the street.
And if the route is extended outside the Barcelona municipal area, Castle Market premieres on the 27th at Castell de Castelldefels. It will run from 11:00 to 20:00 with free entry and combine vintage, second-hand goods, collecting, crafts, design, food trucks and DJs.
The key, therefore, is to choose according to the objective. To pay the least, Akilo reserves its one-euro day for Sunday the 13th. To search among large quantities of used objects, La Puça and Port Flea are the options with the most stalls. And for a more carefully selected range of fashion, Flea Station, La Petite Parade and Palo Market offer formats quite different from the traditional flea market.
